What are Bitcoin Faucets

Bitcoin Faucets (wrongly said: faucet bitcoin) are websites, on which you are able to get free bitcoins (or any other cryptocurrency). Normally after you receive your bitcoins, for visiting the bitcoin faucets, you will need to wait some predefined amount of time – usually about 60 minutes – before being able to get more free bitcoins.
The only thing you need to start earning some small amounts of bitcoins is an bitcoin wallet. You can learn about this and more basic bitcoin stuff here. Bitcoin Faucets are an excellent way to get into the ‘Bitcoin-Business’, because you learn:

  • How bitcoins work.
  • How to make yourself a bitcoin wallet.
  • What are bitcoins used for.

Normally you are getting paid in Bitcoin Satoshi, to make the calculation easier.

What is a Bitcoin Satoshi

As already said, most faucet websites or faucet apps are offering bitcoins in form of Satoshi. One Satoshi is nothing different than a hundredth of a millionth bitcoin (BTC). So, here is the equation, just to imagine how much this is: 1 Satoshi = 0.00000001 ฿ The name Satoshi comes from the inventor (or inventors, as it’s unknown, if it is a he, she or they) – Satoshi Nakamoto. The bitcoin-community pays homage to Satoshi Nakamoto by giving the coin this name. The name starts to spread over the internet in the beginning of 2011.

How are bitcoin faucets handling out free Satoshi/BTC?

The business model of bitcoin faucets is the following:

  1. User watches some kind of advertisement.
  2. Bitcoin Faucets provider pays the user for watching the ad.
  3. Faucet provider gets money from the advertiser.
  4. Both – the faucet provider and the faucet user – are getting rewards for doing what they are doing – so its a win-win situation.

Faucet Rotator

A faucet rotator is a website which allows you to quickly go through different faucets without opening a new site for each one. This means that you are going to be able to visit all of the paying faucets at the fastest speed possible. This saves time, but also uses less computer resources, since some of the faucet-websites are completely filled up with ads from different companies which get refreshed every now and then. We are currently working on our own trusted faucet rotator. Come at a later point to check it out.

How much can I earn by bitcoin faucets?

This is probably the most interesting question of them all! So let me tell you, what your average faucet earnings are going to be: You are earning about 700 Satoshis each 5 minutes for each faucet you are visiting. If we gross this up, you can earn about 8000 Satoshi each hours for each faucet. This equals (depending on the Dollar/Bitcoin-Value of course) about 0.03$/hour for each faucet (BTC ฿1 = $400 USD). So to get to 5$ per working day (10 hours), you need 15 faucets.

For whom are bitcoin faucets?

Bitcoin Faucets are free to use by anyone on the internet (though there are some faucet providers, which disallow some countries). As already stated, they are mainly recommended for bitcoin-starters. However many people quit after their first cash-out. That is, due to the fact that you can’t earn your living with this method (as our calculations have given: about 5$ per 10 hours). This might sound little to countries like Germany, USA or Spain. But for people from countries with weaker economies (many countries in Asia, Africa or South America) those 5$ can mean a lot. Check out this list of minimum wages on wikipedia for more info.

Why can’t I see the faucet claim/earning button?

You probably haven’t disabled your ad-blocker. As we explained earlier in this post, all of the bitcoin faucets are generating their income by showing you advertisements. So with an ad-blocker, they don’t generate anything -> they don’t pay you anything.

Important BTC faucet security note!

Although bitcoin faucets are safe in terms, that your wallet address won’t be stolen – here is the most important faucet security hint: NEVER USE THE SAME PASSWORD FOR DIFFERENT BITCOIN FAUCETS (or services)!

Why not?

Well, because there are plenty of website owners, which just make the bitcoin faucet/service site just to get your password and try to ‘hack’ your wallet or other faucet/cloud mining/hyip/trading accounts. And if you use the same password, than it will not be hard to do so, so please care it’s easier to lose BTC than earn in some occasions.
